How can I increase VAIRKKO engagement through friendly competition?
VAIRKKO’s Gamification feature allows employees to earn badges over time as they complete tasks, pass tests, meet goals or achieve milestones in VAIRKKO.
How does this work?
VAIRKKO has standard badges set up to be earned as well as the option to create custom badges. When turned on, badges will be awarded automatically to employees who meet the criteria set.
What are some examples of badges that can be earned?
- Work anniversary badges (Career Milestones)
- eLearning Course Completion
- System Logins
- Tasks Completed
- Certifications Earned
What does it look like?
As an administrator, you will see a dashboard of all employee achievements.

As an employee, your dashboard can be configured to show your achievements.

How can I set this up?
- Under System Configuration, go to Gamification. This will take you directly into the Badges tab.
- From this screen, you’ll be able to add and manage custom badges as well as manage standard badges (VAIRKKO created).
- Add Custom Badge
- Give your badge a title and a description
- Upon submitting, you will be able to edit your badge and configure details as seen below:

-
- Editing the Badge
Step 1: Configure Badge Details
From here, you can edit the title and description, add a badge image, set the badge as active or inactive and give it a point value if you’d like to tie it in for company store earnings. For best results in uploading a badge image:
- Please make sure the size of your visible badge image is 400px by 400px and that the badge takes up most or all of the image size.
- Please make sure the image has a transparent background.
- Changing an image will replace the badge in the badge dashboard, dashboard pod and any newly awarded badges. Any old badge notifications will not be affected.
Step 2: Configure Who Can Earn This Badge
Leave this blank for all employees to have the ability to earn the badge, or select one or multiple employee groups.Step 3: Configure Your Badge Requirements
Badge requirements are currently configured using Certification Cloud data, eLearning data and other earned badges. For Certification Cloud, you have the option to award a badge when a certification template or group of templates have been issued/obtained.

-
PRO TIP – add in all of the requirements for a Roadmap or Compliance Rule here to award based on those items!
For eLearning Cloud, you have the ability to award badges based on specific course completion, overall number of completed courses or overall number of passed tests:

-
For other earned badges, this will be the Gamification section. This gives you the option to award badges based on a set number of badges obtained or on other badge achievements. For example, you want to create a badge that is awarded when someone has earned a combination of other badges. This one allows for some creativity – see below!
Step 4: Award this Badge Now (optional)
From here you can auto assign this badge to someone upon saving your changes.Once you save your changes, you will be able to manage this badge at any time. Remember to change the statuses to On and Active when you are ready to go!

- Manage Custom Badges
- From this tab, you are able to activate / deactivate existing badges that you've created. You can also permanently delete them from VAIRKKO.

- Manage Standard Badges
- From this tab, you are able to activate / deactivate the standard badges that VAIRKKO has pre-configured for you. The pre-configured badges are largely based upon numeric achievements, for example number of system logins, number of tasks completed or years of service with your organization. If desired, you can add points into these options to use in your company store.

-
How do I view badges earned by employees as an admin?
- Under System Configuration, go to Gamification. Click on the Dashboard tab at the top left of this screen.
- From this screen, you can search for employees or scroll through to see badge achievements. Earned badges will be in color

-
How do my employees view their earned badges?
As an admin, this must be configured to show up on a custom employee dashboard.
To set up a custom dashboard:
- Under System Configuration, go to General Setup.
- Select Dashboards from the top in-app menu.
- Name your Dashboard and click Submit.
- In the dropdown menus that appear, select the pods that you want to include in the dashboard. In this instance, you’ll want to make sure and select “My Badges” in particular.
- Under Employee Assignments, select the employee group(s) to see this dashboard.

- Pro Tip: If you want all employees to see it, make sure you have an “all employees” group created with active group settings set to include all!
*Note: Custom dashboards appear in alphabetical order in the dropdown menu, therefore the first one listed will be the default for the applicable employees selected in the assignments section. If you want this one to be default, try putting a 1 before the name.
This is an example of how it will look:
- From this tab, you are able to activate / deactivate the standard badges that VAIRKKO has pre-configured for you. The pre-configured badges are largely based upon numeric achievements, for example number of system logins, number of tasks completed or years of service with your organization. If desired, you can add points into these options to use in your company store.
