Competencies or competency categories can be weighted. By default, the weight of a competency and a category is 1.0, but can be increased or decreased depending on importance from 0.1 to 9.9. This only comes into play when calculating a closed evaluation’s scoring. In calculating final score, each competency’s total score is based on its weight times 10.
For example, ten competencies, all rated three out of five stars during an evaluation, all weighted 1.0, will return a score of 60/100, or 60.00%.
If one of those competencies is weighted at 5.0, and a user scores five points on that competency, and the category weight for five of the nine is 2.0, then the returned score will be calculate as follows:
(3/5 points (0.6) x 5 competencies at 1.0 weight in a category weighted at 2.0 = (30 * 1.0 * 2.0) out of a possible (50 * 1.0 * 2.0)
(3/5 points (0.6) x 4 competencies at 1.0 weight = 24 points out of a possible 40)
+ (5/5 points (1.0) x 1 competency at 5.0 weight = 50 points of a possible 50)
134/190 = 70.53%
NOTE: Competencies weighted at 2.0 in a category weighted at 1.0 will score the same as competencies weighted at 1.0 in a category weighted at 2.0.
