Fingerprint/Biometric Scanner Model: U.are.U 4500
*Prerequisites needed before setting up your fingerprint scanner:
- Disable or turn off any software that maintains your computer's state (Ex: DeepFreeze or Steady State)
- Disable or turn off any virus protection software or any other software that may scan new files being installed on the computer (this includes Windows Defender)

Ensure you have installed the .NET Framework version 3.5 (specifically version 3.5). For more information on

- Internet Explorer is required and the only supported browser in order to use your fingerprint scanner (IE versions 8,9,10+). Note: This does NOT work within Microsoft Edge.
- Ensure within Internet Explorer you have enabled ActiveX Controls. For more information on this:
Section 1: Installing your hardware
- As a reminder, Internet Explorer is necessary in order to use your fingerprint scanner (IE 8,9,10+). Note; Microsoft Internet Explorer is the only supported browser.
- Log into the VAIRKKO Platform > Click on ADMINISTRATION > System Configuration > Virtual Time Clock > Manage Time Clocks > Click the button labeled 'Manage Time Clocks' (Note: you can also access Time Clocks under eSchedule Settings as well)
- Select either 'Add New Time Clock' button or Edit an existing Time Clock by clicking on 'Edit Clock' button next to the name of your time clock.
- Once in you're in your Time Clock, go to the section labeled Time Clock Details, next to Clock In Using > Select 'Fingerprint Biometric' > scroll down and click on 'Update Time Clock' to save changes to your time clock.
- Now what you need to do is re-install your time clock by clicking on the 'Re-install' button next to that time clock you just updated.
- Once you clicked on that, it will display a green box message asking you to either to download the Virtual Time Clock Program or download the U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Driver. Click on the 'click here' link to download the fingerprint driver.
- Once it is downloaded it should be in your download folder on your computer > Open up the zip file for the driver and click on x64 (if your computer is 64-bit) and select set up > Then follow the prompts, click 'Run' > There is one section where you can configure the driver, please uncheck/don't install the boxes next to OPOS and also JAVA POS Comp. > Click Install > Final step is to click Finish.
- Once you are done installing the driver, it will ask you to restart the computer. Please restart and install the updated time clock by following steps 2, 5, 6 and go ahead and click 'click here' to download your Virtual Time Clock program.
- Once that the Virtual Time Clock program is installed on your computer (Note: you can also use the direct link for the Time Clock if you prefer), plug in your U.are.U 4500 biometric scanner device into your USB port.
- You are now able to have your employees clock in/out using your biometric fingerprint scanner. (If you need help enrolling your employee's fingerprints to the VAIRKKO System, please read Section 2 of this article)
Section 2: Enrolling your employee's fingerprints in the VAIRKKO System
In order to enroll your employee's fingerprints in the VAIRKKO system please follow the steps below:
- Login to the VAIRKKO Platform > Click on ADMINISTRATION > Employee Mgmt. > User Account Management > Manage Employees
- From here select the name of the employee you want to enroll by clicking the employee's name
- Once you are in your employee's profile tabs, click on the Tab called HR
- When you are in the tab called HR, scroll down just a little under the section called Job Related Information, and go next to Fingerprint Enrollment and click on 'Click here' to enroll fingerprints for the primary and backup finger.
- Follow the steps to enroll.
- Once done, make sure to under the HR tab click on the 'Submit Information' button below to save changes.
- Please follow steps 2-6 for the same process for all your other employees as well. (Please read Section 3 to test your biometric fingerprint scanner)
Section 3: Testing your Biometric/Fingerprint Scanner
In order to test that your fingerprint scanner is working properly for your employees please follow steps below:
- Open up your Time Clock you have installed on your computer or use the direct link for your Time Clock.
- Once your time clock is open, it will ask you to select the employee's name from the drop-down under Step 1 of the Time Clock. Go ahead an select your employee.
- Also, you need to select which finger from the drop down (Either Primary or Backup Finger) you want to authenticate under Step 2 of the Time Clock. Go ahead and select which finger to use.
- Have your employee press his or her finger to the device. (Make sure to use the finger from the previous step)
- From here it should automatically clock that employee in.
- If you wanted to check the security and the safety of the Time Clock system, use another finger from some other employee to test. If our system is working properly, it will not authenticate for the employee to clock in since it is not the correct enrolled fingerprint for that employee.
